Ménilmontant
It’s a complete apartment renovation, nestled in a building dating back to the early 1900s. This compact space embodies Parisian charm with its French-style parquet floors, polished terracotta tiles, moldings, and existing marble and cast-iron fireplaces. Inspired by the vibrant artistic identity of the neighborhood, this renovation stands out for its creative approach, creating a dialogue between the apartment's history and contemporary creations.
The challenges
The first one was to immortalize the surroundings through artistic creation: Office ICO designed three Créations Originales (CO-01 L’église, CO-02 Ménilmontant, and CO-03 L’école), conceived as souvenir maps. These unique pieces, highlighted by Studio Fil Rouge’s lighting design, resonate with their environment.
The second was merging functions: the apartment combines the needs of daily life with those of artistic activity. In a single movement, it brings together personal belongings, work tools, and one-off pieces.
