This triptych was conceived as a set of souvenir maps, designed to match the scale of the apartment. These interior windows capture the Parisian skyline : three perspectives of Paris, observed from home.
The views were refined to reveal their essence. The sky, in perpetual motion, is represented by polished and matte-varnished ashwood. The wood grain offers organic variations, echoing the ever-changing sky. The buildings, rooftops, and church stones are depicted using extra-clear glass, sandblasted and engraved, with beveled edges that transform these century-old architectures into contemporary silhouettes.
CO-01 L’église (The Church)
This piece represents the church Notre-Dame de la Croix, visible from the balcony. The architectural details of the church are intertwined with the clean lines of the glass, and the deep tones of burlwood.
Dimensions: W 91.2 x H 196.5 x D 4.5 cm
CO-02 Ménilmontant
Inspired by the geometry of buildings’ façades, blending Haussmannian heritage with contemporary modernity, this work plays with contrasts. The natural curves of the burlwood veneer contrast with the precision of the architectural shapes engraved in the glass.
Dimensions: W 91.2 x H 196.5 x D 4.5 cm
CO-03 L’école (The School)
Here, the sky towers over the Parisian rooftops. The mirrored arrangement of burlwood creates abstract patterns reminiscent of Rorschach tests, symbolizing creativity and imagination.
Dimensions: W 91.2 x H 146.5 x D 4.5 cm
